Statuette of an infantry soldier
cast iron, around 1930, height: approx. 39 cm
The small industrially manufactured memorial is a leaving gift and bears a commemorative plaque: “To your parting comrade Feldwebel […] 1.7.25 – 31.3.31 Corporal Corps 9 I[nfantery] R[egiment] 6.” The regiment was created in 1921 from regiments 17 and 18 of the “transitional army,” which was still authorised to exist in Germany after the Versailles agreement. In this instance it probably relates to the “Mecklenburg battalion” in Schwerin.
