Etrog tin

The etrog tin was used to store the etrog fruit (Citrus medica), which is similar to a lemon. It is a ritual object during the festival of Sukkrot on the occasion of the fruit and grape harvest and is a reminder of the desert migration of the Israelites. The fruit is symbolically compared with the forbidden “apple” from which Adam ate. The tin took a lot of work (probably by a Röbel master potter). It is recognisable as a ritual container from the etrog fruit on the lid knob.
