Duke Ulrich II. died in 1471. Stargard fell to Mecklenburg. In 1483 Duke Magnus took over sole reign until 1503. He arranged the finances, qualified the civil servants and streamlined the administration. The strong coastal towns remained unbroken.
The goods for money relationship increased in urban markets. In the countryside payments in kind and goods for goods relationships were common.
The late Gothic period led to the creation of European masterpieces such as the Church of St. Nicholas in Wismar.
20 Sternberg Jews were burned in 1492 as they had supposedly pierced sacred sacramental bread. The remaining Jews had to leave the state. The sacramental bread as “holy blood” brought pilgrims to Sternberg parish church.
