Tripod skillet
bronze, around 1610, Burg Stargard, height: 21 cm
The three-legged tripod skillet from a special alloy (bronze) was created for use over an open hearth. As bronze is resistant to heat, and largely resistant to corrosion, these vessels were particularly suitable for cooking. This pan was found near to a lakefront in Burg Stargard in 1995.
