Saint Clare of Assisi
oak wood with paint residues, Lübeck around 1340, height: 110 cm
The figure of Saint Clare of Assisi, the Saint of Poor Clare Convent in Ribnitz, came from a Lübeck workshop. It is the oldest remaining large sculptural representation of this saint in German-speaking countries. The figure would have played a central role during processions and the nuns‘ liturgical customs.
